Will GCSE Biology Enzyme Revision lead you to a ‘Super Enzyme’?

At www.scienceexamssorted.co.uk we’re always looking for exciting news stories that show what you can achieve with a career in science. It’s not just about passing your GCSE Biology, it’s about how you can use it. Maybe that’s working in the health and fitness industry or maybe it’s going on to study biology at university. There is a whole world of opportunity out there!

Check out this article in BBC Science Focus https://www.sciencefocus.com/news/super-enzyme-breaks-down-plastic-bottles-in-a-matter-of-days/ about the University of Portsmouth’s potential solution to plastic bottle waste. They have developed a ‘super enzyme’ that can break down plastic in a matter of days. In landfill this process could normally take up to 1000 years!

Breaking down plastic waste like this potentially means that it can be reused an endless number of times. Imagine how much better for the environment this could be!

This is a great example of what you can achieve by studying biology. But for now, if you need to revise enzymes for your GCSE Biology, find our topic note booklet here https://www.scienceexamssorted.co.uk/subject/biology/notes-and-exam-questions/level/gcse/paper-1/
